Can I use Lillio Academy for PD hours in Illinois?

Yes! Lillio Academy is an approved organization by the Gateways to Opportunity Illinois Professional Development System (IPDS), administered by the INCCRRA. Lillio Academy membership ID is N474765.

Please Note: All Webinars and Lillio Basic Courses must NOT be submitted to your registry. They do not meet specific learning requirements for the state and will not be accepted if submitted.

Sign up for Lillio Academy to complete your professional development hours at your convenience! You can work at your own pace from wherever you want. Once you complete a course, you can download your certificate! Your attendance will be directly submitted to The Gateways to Opportunity Professional Development System.

Illinois Child Care Training Requirements:

In accordance with section 407.100, all providers are required to take 15 clock hours of in-service training per year. All licensed staff must be members of the Gateways to Opportunity Registry, with all educational and training credentials entered into the registry verified following procedures and requirements adopted by the Department of Human Services.

For the first year of employment, training topics include the following:

  • Recognize and report suspected child abuse or neglect

  • Mandate reporting

  • Rules governing the operation of the facility

  • Legal protection afforded to persons who report violations of licensing standards

Subsequent in-service training may include:

  • Child development

  • Symptoms of common childhood illnesses

  • Hygiene

  • Guidance and discipline

  • Communication with parents. 

If the facility is licensed to care for newborns and infants, all newly hired day care center staff must complete the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS) training within 30 days after hire and every 3 years thereafter.
