Can I use Lillio Academy for PD hours in New Jersey?

Yes! Lillio Academy is IACET-approved and in alignment with standards for professional learning in NJAC 6A:9C-3.3. Within New Jersey, professional development is up to the discretion of individual districts. Check with your center supervisor to ensure our training is approved within your area. 

Please Note: All Webinars and Lillio Basic Courses must NOT be submitted to your registry. They do not meet specific learning requirements for the state and will not be accepted if submitted.

Sign up for Lillio Academy to complete your professional development hours at your convenience! You can work at your own pace from wherever you want. Once you complete a course, you can download your certificate! 

New Jersey Child Care Training Requirements:

In accordance with section 3A:52-5.3(l), all licensed New Jersey centers shall ensure that all staff members who work at the center complete 12 hours of continuing staff development each year. Orientation training may be included for 6 of the required hours of staff development.

In place of center-run staff development, the director, head teacher(s), group teacher(s), and program supervisor(s) can complete 20 hours of independent staff development each year. 

Recommended topics of training for these staff include:

  • Educational and physical activity 

  • Special needs programming and program development 

  • Social-emotional and behavioral development for young children 

  • Legal issues, including ADA guidelines

  • Leadership and advocacy

New Jersey staff development must: 

  • Be recorded in clock hours

  • Be related to the ages of the children served by each staff member

  • Be provided either by the center or by another source such as a college or university, community or professional organization, professional consultant, State agency, or an instructor approved by the Instructor Approval System of Professional Impact of New Jersey (Lillio Academy is a state-approved professional organization)

  • Be presented by persons with relevant expertise. The staff development may include materials approved by the center, such as printed materials, television broadcasts, audio-visual materials, or websites
