Can I use Lillio Academy for PD hours in West Virginia?
Yes! Lillio Academy is accepted by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources and West Virginia State Training and Registry System to be used towards 15 non-STAR hours. Educators must submit a completed Non-STARS Training Submission Form along with Lillio Academy certificate(s) of completion to WV STARS to have their courses applied to their WV STARS Learning History Record.
Please Note: All Webinars and Lillio Basic Courses must NOT be submitted to your registry. They do not meet specific learning requirements for the state and will not be accepted if submitted.

West Virginia Child Care Training Requirements:
In accordance with 78CSR1.8.7.a, all qualified staff shall complete 15 hours of approved training within the first year of employment. A director shall have 6 hours of management training within the required annual hours, and staff members shall have 6 hours of training related to the age group of children they care for within the required annual hours.
All qualified staff are required to apply for credentialing on the WV STARS Career Pathway. Providers can achieve a West Virginia Training Certificate in Early Care and Education (WVTCECE) by completing 120 hours of training in the core competencies of early childhood education awarded through the WV STARS Professional Development System. WV STARS does not have any requirements regarding what type of training a participant must complete to meet one of the Career Pathway renewal requirements and is separate from any licensing, regulatory, or monitoring agency that may have requirements for training attendance. Participants are encouraged to contact those agencies for their specific training requirements.
