Can I use Lillio Academy for PD hours in Iowa?
Yes! Lillio is approved by the Iowa Department of Human Services and is in compliance with Iowa Early Learning Standards. Lillio Academy is registered with I - PoWeR! Lillio Academy’s Organization ID is B421459.
Please Note: All Webinars and Lillio Basic Courses must NOT be submitted to your registry. They do not meet specific learning requirements for the state and will not be accepted if submitted.
Sign up for Lillio Academy to complete your professional development hours at your convenience! You can work at your own pace from wherever you want. Once you complete a course, you can download your certificate! Iowa course approval codes will be on all certificates. Your attendance will be submitted to The Iowa State Registry.
Iowa Child Care Training Requirements:
In accordance with section 109.7(2), during the first year of employment, all center directors and staff shall receive 10 hours of training. From then on, staff are required to receive 6 hours annually and center directors/on-site supervisors 8 hours annually from the following topics:
Planning a safe, healthy learning environment (including nutrition)
Steps to advance children’s physical and intellectual development
Positive ways to support children’s social and emotional development (includes guidance and discipline)
Strategies to establish productive relationships with families (includes communication skills and cross-cultural competence)
Strategies to manage an effective program operation (includes business practices).
Maintaining a commitment to professionalism
Observing and recording children’s behavior
Principles of child growth and development
A provider shall not use a specific training or class to meet minimum continuing education requirements more than one time every five years. Training may only be counted toward annual training hours during the year of employment in which the training is taken.
