She shared deep insight into what exactly a child is experiencing in their brain when they are demonstrating big emotions and what co-regulation strategies educators can use to support a child in these moments. We gained actionable insights on how to strengthen the social emotional and cognitive development of preschoolers and increase their confidence. This is not a webinar to miss out on!

🧪Key Learning Outcomes from Marcelle!
- When we are overwhelmed our brain goes “offline” which makes it challenging to make thoughtful decisions. We need to bring our brain back “online” in stressful situation by centering ourselves and using coping skills.
- When children are experiencing big emotions, focus on empathy and on responding with intention (calm and slow, thinking it through) instead of reacting in the moment (quick and instant without thinking)
- Co-regulation is a supportive and soothing process between an adult and child. Co-regulation builds compassion, patience, trust, safety and belonging
- We can foster co-regulation through a warm and responsive relationship, structured environment, and teaching and modeling self-regulation skills
- When children’s big emotions are partnered with a calm and supportive educator, we are setting the foundation from strong self-regulation skills
- To connect with children in the tough moments, find your calm. Let the child feel their emotions, validate what they are feeling and help them feel safe.
